Surf City blues for Rhinos
Rhinos 1 and 2 went down to Durban Collegians on Friday evening in Durban.
IT was a massacre when Rhinos 1 and 2 travelled to Durban for their Castle Premier Division League assignments against defending champions Durban Collegians last Friday night, with both teams going conceding more than 50 points.
The second teams kicked the action off, which saw one-way traffic in favour of the home side.
Collegians scored four tries in the first half, of which one was converted, to take the score to 22-0 at half-time.
The home side then drilled the nails into the Rhinos coffin, running in nine unanswered tries, of which six were converted to take the end tally to 79–0.
The first teams followed, which saw the Rhinos’ scrum being demolished, their line-outs poached and being outmanoeuvred at the breakdowns, resulting in the majority of ball possession going to the home team.
Collegians scored eight tires, of which six were converted to hand the home side 52 points.
Captain Jors Dannhauser kicked five penalty conversions to put Rhinos on the board and leave the final score reading 52-15.
Rhinos 1 and 2 will play Varsity College Old Boys on Saturday at Varsity College.
Second team kick-off is at 2pm, followed by the first team at 3:30pm.
