Cop car set alight

AN Empangeni SAPS vehicle was set alight in the Lumbi area near Melmoth in the early hours of Sunday morning.

Two officers were reportedly tracing a suspect in the area and parked the vehicle near the suspect’s home.

When approaching the house, the suspect fled and the officers attempted to chase him before receiving word that their car had been set alight.

It has not yet been confirmed if the car was a marked police vehicle, or the motive behind the incident.

No arrests were made.
