RICHARDS Bay Minerals (RBM) held its annual Titan Awards ceremony on Wednesday to recognise and reward those employees who do not compromise on safety.
In addition to handing out trophies to the recipients, employees were treated to a lineup of entertainment.
The master of ceremonies for the day was television personality Muzi Mthabela who is commonly known for his roles in various TV drama series.
A cast of familiar faces performed an industrial theatre stage play, with RBM management’s intention being to reinforce their stance on safety.
The event was also used as a platform for the launch of the organisation’s ’12 Lifesaving Commitments’.
Managing Director Mpho Mothoa reiterated his commitment to ensuring that RBM achieves its goal of’Zero Harm’.
‘Our life-saving rules are playing an important part in improving our safety performance, however it was time that we critically reviewed them and provided you with these refreshed obligations,’ Mothoa said.
We have deliberately changed the name to Lifesaving Commitments because a commitment indicates what we all promise to do as individuals.
‘This is not about the company imposing any new safety rules as the requirements already exist within our safety standards.
‘This is about having everybody engaged with very fundamental safety principles that will guide our journey to zero harm,’ he said.
