THE victim of a shooting during a robbery at a Birdswood complex last night is reportedly out of danger at Ngwelezana Hospital.
In the second incident with an hour of each other, Gawie Stolz was shot in the cheek and chest after going outside to check the barking of dogs just before 10pm.
The intruders, who fled the scene at Puffback Parlor, earlier accosted occupants of a flat at Pelican Pride.
Family members were forced at gunpoint to lie on the ground and were robbed of personal possessions, while the key to a safe was also demanded.
Despite speedy reaction from the neighbourhood street groups, Chubb Security and the SAPS, the gang evaded arrest.
It is believed to comprise four members, one with shoulder length dreadlocks, and they may be driving a blue Opel with GP registration.
The modus operandi is similar to crimes committed in Wildenweide and Brackenham.
Birdswood residents are hoping that three men caught attempting yet another break-in on Wednesday morning are the ones responsible for the Tuesday night shooting, but police have yet to confirm this.
Meanwhile, the Birdswood CPF has called on members to continue to pray for Stolz’s recovery.
