Robbers hit grocery stores

Thieves tied up and robbed employees.

IN only two hours, two grocery stores were hit by a gang of three armed robbers on Tuesday.

A Khondweni store in the Mzingazi area was robbed at 4pm, during which the employees were tied up while the suspects stole cash and cell phones.

At 5.10pm, the Alton Supermarket in Richards Bay was hit.

Staff were threatened and forced to lie on the floor while the men stole cash, cell phones and one of the victims’ wallet.

Traumatised employees reported that gunshots were fired, but no one was injured.

Richards Bay police said their detectives branch is investigating a link between the two cases.

No suspects have yet been arrested.
