Facelift for school chapel

St Catherine's school chapel received a much needed face-lift after being unused for months.

FOLLOWING three months of renovations, the St Catherine’s school chapel is opening its doors once again.

Since the departure of the Dominican Sisters last year, the chapel, which had been used for 59 years by them, had been left untouched.

Enter Dee Bevan and Cathy Sparnon, who together have dedicated their spare time to renovating and upgrading the chapel.

‘Without the sisters there would have been no school. This has been our motivation to assist in restoring a place very special to them,’ said Bevan.

The chapel will now be used for religious lessons, lunch time prayer sessions, the Revelations group and a place of prayer and spiritual connection for pupils.

The Past Pupils Association’s fund-raising support also assisted the project.
