The suspect then fled the scene on foot.

The motive for the shooting is still unknown.

Two counts of murder were opened at Mbongolwane police station.

KZN MEC for Transport, Community Safety and Liaison Willies Mchunu welcomed this breakthrough.

‘I commend the good work done by the police in apprehending the alleged suspect.

‘This is a clear indication that our police are doing their work with dedication.

‘I urge and cajole all of us, including the community and community safety structures, to work with the police and other law enforcement agencies to isolate all criminals in our communities.

‘Let those who have made it their work to commit criminal activities in the province be warned that they cannot escape the long arm of law and justice.

‘This spirit, of working in partnership must be strengthened as it is bound to produce good results in the war against crime and criminals,’ said Mchunu.
