Neil Tovey suffers 3 heart attacks

Former Thanda Royal Zulu coach, Neil Tovey recovers in ICU.

FORMER Thanda Royal Zulu coach, Neil Tovey is in ICU in a Durban hospital after he suffered three heart attacks yesterday.

Latest news from Sport24, Tovey is “doing well” and could be moved out of ICU “in the next day or so”.

According to African Football, a football colleague of Tovey’s, confirmed that the 52-year-old sportsman had the first heart attack while playing a game of squash.

The second and third heart attacks apparently happened in hospital and while under the care of the medical team.

Tovey won over 50 caps for Bafana Bafana and was as a star for Kaizer Chiefs from 1990-1999.

He later coached numerous PSL sides after retiring from the playing arena, including Mamelodi Sundowns, AmaZulu, Black Aces and Thanda Royal Zulu.
