Check mate in Richards Bay

uThungulu Open Chess Tournament was held in Richards Bay.

LOCAL chess masterminds gathered at the Richards Bay High School hall for the uThungulu Open Chess Tournament this weekend.

A total of 148 participants took part in the two day event which included the U10 – U12 (development stage) on Saturday and the U14 – adult (developing towards national champs) on Sunday.

With many new faces making their way to the non-rated event, beginners were given the opportunity to learn the do’s and don’ts of the game.
