Mining giant promotes science in schools

Another six mobile science laboratories were handed over to local high schools.

MINERAL sands mining company Tronox KZN Sands handed over another six mobile science laboratories to local high schools, allowing hundreds more young learners to take up interest in the subject.

To date, the company has handed over 18 such facilities in Zululand.

Principals and science teachers from the Qondindlela, Bhekikusasa, Majiya, Mevamhlophe, Tholokuhle and Ikhandlela high schools were recently invited to Tronox’s Central Processing Complex in Empangeni to enjoy a training session on their newly obtained labs.

EdutTrade conducted the course, coaching the educators on science kits and science boxes aligned with the current high school science curriculum.

‘Tronox hopes that this contribution will assist the department in achieving its goal, reaffirming our commitment to the sustainable and responsible development of education,’ said the company in a statement.
