Thanda keep climbing

There’s every chance Monday morning could see a new look log table, with Thanda possibly leading the pack.

THE National First Division soccer standings turned upside down after a few surprise wins when the league resumed on Wednesday.

With Thanda triumphing 1-0 against Baroka, and log leaders Jomo Cosmos going down by the same scoreline to Black Leopards, this allowed Golden Arrows to leap to the top courtesy of their 2-0 win over Milano.

It couldn’t be tighter at the top, with Arrows on 33 points, Cosmos on 32 and Thanda on 31.

The weekend’s round of NFD fixtures will further throw the cat among the pigeons.

Thanda travel to the Cape to face mid-table Vasco da Gama – always a tough opponent, but one they have more than matched over the past two years.

Nothing but a win will do it for the Amabhubesi, but they will have to perform better than they did against Baroka last time out.

These are testing times and any dropping of points will have dire consequences at the sharp end of the season when PSL promotion is at stake.

Jomo Cosmos and Milano do battle on Saturday, when Golden Arrows also face a tough fixture against FC Cape Town.

There’s every chance Monday morning could see a new look log table, with Thanda possibly leading the pack.
