Empowering communities through transformation
The woman leading RBM's transformation agenda.
GUGU Mosalanyane reckons she is ‘just a young lady who is on a mission to make a difference wherever she goes’, be it at work, church or in the community.
And it’s mission accomplished for Richards Bay Minerals’ Superintendent for Transformation and Local Economic Development, who is equally at ease whether engaging in the boardroom with stakeholders, conducting various project visits out in the field, or living her social and spiritual life.
Leading the mining giants’ transformation agenda for just over two years, Gugu’s main role is to create transformation awareness internally by ensuring that the business embraces the relevant pieces of legislation which guide and regulate the mining sector.
‘For me, transformation is not simply a tick box exercise or earning BEE points, but rather about making a meaningful contribution through sustainable development and empowerment,’ she said.
In addition to working towards ensuring there is adherence to RBM’s Social and Labour Plan, Gugu facilitates ongoing community engagements, with the ultimate aim being to unleash their potential.
She holds a National Diploma in Human Resources and has accumulated advanced certificates in Project Management and BBBEE Development Management.Gugu has a wealth of experience after fulfilling various specialist roles at some of the country’s leading corporates.
When this young lady is not busy forming viable business solutions, you can find her being a loving mom to her two daughters, Tumi (4) and Tiro (7), who, she says, add priceless value to her life.
