WHEN reading Amy Jenkins’ article ‘Getting off the grid’ in Monday’s Zululand Observer (19 January), I had a troubling thought.

I realised that even if Eskom shapes up and fixes their enormous boo-boo, it won’t be long before we are back in the dark.

Not because the head honchos are making a mess again, but because South Africans don’t practice energy saving methods.

People don’t seem to understand what a power crisis is.

People still don’t switch off lights as they exit a room, they leave their geysers on 24/7 and leave plugs on even when their electrical appliances are not being used.

I am disappointed that people lash out against Eskom for not doing their job, when they themselves can’t even lift their hands as they pass a light switch to switch it off.

I brand these kind of people as Hippocrates.

I am not commending Eskom for their uselessness, I am simply calling these members of the public out for theirs’.

POWER RANGER
