THE man accused of murdering Jozini resident Pinky Zikhali was on Monday denied bail on the grounds that he might intimidate witnesses.
According to police reports, Siyabonga Myeni (24), who was her boyfriend, admitted to strangling Zikhali, transporting her body in a wheelbarrow and burying it in a shallow grave.
The charges against his friend, 22-year-old Bheki Ndlazi who was initially charged for his part in assisting with burying Zikhali’s body, had his charges withdrawn after Myeni took full responsibility for both the murder and disposal of the body.
Myeni was remanded in custody and transferred to Empangeni Prison.
His trial is due to commence in late March, scheduled to take place at Ingwavuma Regional Court.
