New challenges for Mtuba police officers

Police officers move up the ranks.

MTUBATUBA SAPS bid farewell to three of its officers who are looking forward to the new challenges that lie ahead.

Captain Mthiyane, who was stationed in St Lucia, was promoted to Major and transferred to Jozini, Lieutenant Colonel Mthembu was transferred to Empangeni and Captain Nogwaza retired from the police force to join the private sector.

‘I am going to Empangeni as an ambassador for Mtuba,’ said Lt Cnl Mthembu who had been stationed at eSikhaleni prior to her posting in Mtubatuba. Lieutenant Colonel Myeza from the KwaMsane cluster will replace Lt Col Mthembu.

A number of dignitaries attended the farewell, including Mtubatuba Mayor Robert Ntuli, Senior Magistrate Pienaar and Magistrate Badenhorst of Mtubatuba Magistrates Court, Induna Sithole from Dukuduku and Induna Mkhwanazi from Khula Village. Representatives of the local Community Policing Forum (CPF) also attended, as well as the St Lucia Ratepayers’ Forum Executive Committee.

Captain Myeza spoke about people in leadership positions and how their decisions must be executed according to the greater good, rather than benefiting the individual.

He also spoke about how police officers join the force to serve the public rather than looking to better themselves financially.

‘When you are gone, people should remember you for the problems you solved and not for the problems you caused,’ concluded Captain Myeza.
