Russell and Yvonne roll in victory
Steenkamp and Morgan crowned champions at Richards Bay Bowling Club.
YVONNE Steenkamp and Russell Morgan kept their cool to win the Richards Bay Bowls Club Nominated Mixed Pairs Championship played on 10 and 11 January.
The pair claimed a comfortable 25-6 victory over Dionne Beneke and Dirk Norval in the finals.
Thirty-two bowlers vied for the title.
Players had to adjust to the hot, humid weather conditions that greeted them on both days.
Entering the final stages of the championship on Sunday, four couples were still in contention.
The semi-finals saw Dion Leaity and Essel Schoeman go down 18-12 to Morgan and Steenkamp, with Gloria Garbutt and Pat Stockwell losing by one end (12-11) to Beneke and Norval.
The final turned out to be a one-sided affair from beginning to end, with Morgan and Steenkamp running out comfortable winners.
