One dead, 48 injured in bus crash
Road death toll increases as traffic picks up in Zululand.

ONE person died and 48 were injured after the bus they were travelling in left the road and overturned in the Makhowe area in Hluhluwe last night.
According to Emergency Medical Rescue Services (EMRS), Media Liaison Officer Robert Mckenzie, the bus came to rest on its roof down a small embankment.
‘Paramedics arrived on scene to find that sadly one person had died and 48 patients had sustained injuries ranging from minor to critical.
‘The patients were treated on scene before being transported to several hospitals in the area.
‘In another collision which occurred in the early this morning, two people were killed after two bakkies, one towing the other, collided with a truck.
‘Two occupants from the bakkie being towed were fatally injured while a third sustained minor injuries.
‘The driver of the truck was seriously injured and the jaws of life had to be used to free him from the truck.’
The patients were transported to Nkonjeni hospital for continued care.
