eSikhaleni community fight against women and child abuse
eSikhaleni community extended the campaign against women and child abuse.
REINFORCING protection against women and child abuse, the eSikhaleni community took the fight to the streets on Saturday.
Spearheaded by the Community Policing Forum (CPF), more than 200 people marched and encouraged change.The walk started from the township’s mall where thousands of educational pamphlets were handed over to community members and shoppers.
The march was an extension of the 16 Days of Activism and encouraged community involvement in this battle.
Esikhaleni CPF chairperson Msizi Mthembu, encouraged others to educate each other through out the year.
‘This shouldn’t be about the 16 days, but must be an everyday awareness.
‘Abuse happens everyday, that’s why we should also fight everyday. We must come together and assist each other to eliminate abuse, crime, and other social ills,’ said Mthembu.
Community leaders, business owners and others social groups were also part of the walk.
