Pommies take the day in the rain

Englishman Jeremy Kirkwood is king of the fairways.

IT was the day of the Pommies when the English team carded enough points to win the Pommies, Zulu and Afrikaners golf day held on Tuesday at the Empangeni Country Club.

A total of 15 golfers took to the waterlogged course to celebrate the Day of Reconciliation, following an IPS format over 18 holes.

Conditions were tough and challenging.

Despite having to wipe raindrops out of the eyes, the golfers had to deal with sticky fairways and slow, soaked greens.

But Englishman Jeremy Kirkwood managed to card 39 points to win the day after playing a solid round of golf.

Results

1 Pommies, 2 Zulus and 3 Afrikaners.

IPS

1 Jeremy Kirkwood 39 points, 2 Andrew Goddard 38 points, 3 Craig Good 36 points and 4 Jarred Good 33 points.
