Couple loses everything in blaze

WHILE most people are looking forward to a few extra treats at this time of year, a devastated Mzingazi couple are left with nothing after watching their humble home go up in flames.
Petronella Mchunu and Samson Nkosi were not in the house when a blaze began from an undetermined cause and speedily wiped out their life’s possessions.
‘While a Richards Bay Fire & Rescue crew was on its way immediately they were alerted, they were unfortunately directed to the wrong address as there are no street names or directional signs in the Mkhayideni section,’ said community worker Sharon Mdletshe.
‘They have lost absolutely everything, including a fridge, TV, microwave, stove, beds and bedding, sound system, clothes – all the items found in any family home.’
Sharon has made it her mission to collect as many replacement items as possible, including block bricks for a rebuild.
‘People are always kind in giving food and clothes, but I really am hoping that in this season of goodwill they will also think of the household items and the building blocks.’
