Richards Bay Christian School swimmer is top sportsman in Zululand.

LOCAL swimming star Evan Weyermüller was crowned the Zululand Observer SuperSport Let’s Play Sports Star of the Year yesterday at the SuperSport Let’s Play awards ceremony held at Amble Inn.

The monthly competition, which started in March this year, recognised talented school sport stars throughout the Zululand region.

Eight monthly winners attended the awards ceremony where they were rewarded for their sporting achievements and hard work throughout the year.

June winner Seth Rajakumar was runner-up, while August winner Wade Cooper was elected third best.

Zululand Observer Editor Dave Savides shared words of wisdom and encouragement with the deserving athletes

He told them to venture further and achieve more in their sporting careers and to always remain in sport, whether it be as a player, coach, management or medical.

Guest speaker Zola Starke spoke about her life experience and used it to encourage the winners to excel in 2015.
