IT is Friday morning, 28 November.
This morning at about 7.15am I watched in absolute horror as a little girl of six almost became a statistic at my daughter’s school.
I was about to reverse out of the parking area when she came flying past my car, heading straight towards the very busy street.
Blessedly (not luck), a mother who was already out of her car, grabbed the child and a car coming around a blind corner, owing to all the vehicles parked there, slammed on brakes.
I was hooting like a mad woman trying to create some awareness of the danger as I knew I would never reach the child on time.
Mommies and daddies, if you know your child is in an emotional state that morning, which this child was because she was screaming for her mommy while running, take five minutes from your busy schedule to settle them into their classes before making that decision to leave them with the teachers and letting the teachers deal with them.
Every child is precious to them, but they have other distractions as well so early in the morning and cannot possibly watch just one child.
They do their best, now do yours. Be five minutes late, that five minutes could mean they come home safely today.
