Local restaurant makes its mark

Taste tantalising restaurant ropes in awards.

EMPANGENI’S Nam Jai House has been dubbed one of the country’s crème de la crème establishments of fine dining and service at the 2014 Rosetta Awards.

Hosted at the cosmopolitan Sinosteel Plaza in Sandton Johannesburg, Nam Jai House owner Anne-Marie Benecke and her team, out of only four restaurants nationwide, were nominated as Best International Experiential Restaurant.

Up against stiff competition and the only nominated restaurant in the province this year, scoring was based on service delivery, food quality, restaurant layout, atmosphere and social media activity. Nam Jai House took fourth place.

Last year Nam Jai House was placed in the Top 10 for Best International Experiential Alternative Restaurant.

‘We are grateful for this achievement and look forward to greater ones in the future,’ said Benecke.

Restaurant Association of South Africa (RASA) is a non-profit organisation formed in 2004 to act in the interest of South African restaurateurs as the only official voice and lobbying body recognised by government.

The RASA Rosetta Award is a prestigious award given to restaurants that strive for service excellence in the restaurant industry.
