Graduating matrics won’t see their names in newspapers

Names to be withheld from matric result.

COME January, matric results published in newspapers will only reflect the ID and exam numbers of pupils.

Their names will not be published as in previous years.

In previous years errors have been printed to the detriment of pupils, the changes will ensure that if there are any technical glitches, it causes no inconvenience or embarrassment to the pupil involved.

The decision was made yesterday by the Department of Basic Education after a task team recommended that the practice of publishing individual names be reviewed.

The meeting was held in Pretoria and hosted by Basic Education Minister Angie Motshekga.
