Yachties have spitting good time

A 20-strong international fleet have been hosted at the Zululand Yacht Club.

CREWS from the 20-strong international fleet participating in the transatlantic ARC (Atlantic Rally for Cruisers) race have been well hosted at the Zululand Yacht Club.

At the prize-giving for the last leg, from Reunion to Richards Bay, they were entertained by Zulu dancers and a superb performance by the John Ross College’s Nerd Boys dance group, before taking part in the famous ‘bokdrolspoeg’ competition.

A number of the yachts have already left for Cape town, where the next leg of the ARC race starts in January, while others are still enjoying the local hospitality and tourism sites.

Former ZYC Commodore, Kirsten Schreuder, won the bokdrolspoeg contest, but gallantly handed over the aluminium potjie pot prize to second-placed American yachtie James Reinhard of the yacht Alpharatz
