Ulundi performer steps up
Ulundi Maskandi act finishes second in KZN Jam Music talent search.
TWENTY of KwaZulu-Natal’s aspirant performing hopefuls showed what got them to the finals of the World Jam Music Festival Talent Search competition – and one of the top three comes from Ulundi.
The Maskandi act, Stability, finished in second place.
The Moses Mabhida Stadium was the venue for the finals and the finalists had to face up to a discerning panel of judges.
The World Jam Music Festival Talent Search saw a series of heats take place throughout KZN, where the top three winners from each audition went through to the final round to perform for a winning spot.
Craig Clay-Smith, Director of Flagship Communications and Communications Director for World Jam Music Festival said, ‘We recognize that KZN has hidden talent and that many of these youngsters do not have the opportunity or know how to promote themselves or be recognised.
After a process of elimination during the day-long judging, the ultimate winner was decided between two totally different genres, hip hop and maskandi.
Thulani Mbele, a 21-year-old hip hop artist from Newcastle was announced as the winner.
Stability finished second and Siyabulela Mayeza, a rhythm and blues pop artist from Durban, was in third place.
The top three winners now look forward to the amazing opportunity of performing on stage as part of the 60-strong local and international line-up of performers at the World Jam Music Festival on 6 and 7 December at the Moses Mabhida Stadium.
