A 19-year-old schoolboy has stabbed the mother of his girlfriend to death in kwaGxigxi, Ward 7, in Ntambanana.
According to a police report, Norah Ndwandwe (56) went to a neighbour’s house looking for her underage daughter who is still in primary school and who had been missing for a week.
The mother, together with her son and another young man went to the suspect’s house to look for her, only to find her at a neighbour’s house where the suspect hid her.
Although details are not clear, a neighbour said that it seems that during an argument the suspect stabbed the mother to death. The brother was also seriously injured and taken to Ngwelezana Hospital, while the neighbour in whose house the girl was, escaped with minor stab wounds.
According to Empangeni police spokesperson Captain Mbongeni Mdlalose, the suspect was arrested that same evening and will face murder and attempted murder charges in the Ngwelezane Magistrate’s Court today (Monday).
