No substitute for pace

Daryn Dupavillon plays a major role for the Dolphins and when available for RH Construction uThungulu.

PACKING huge heat, hard working and determined is the best way to describe paceman Daryn Miles Dupavillon.

The Zululand cricketer burst onto the provincial scene while playing for Maritzburg College, where collecting scalps with nut in hand was no serious issue.

The highlight of this talented youngster’s career, was in 2012, when he took 7 wickets for 18 runs for KZN Inlands against Northern Province in the Coca Cola Khaya Majola week in Potchefstroom.

This spring-boarded the start of his career in terms of busting onto the scene and engraving his name into selectors’ minds.

He went on to play for SA U19, KZN Inland U19, KZN Amateur XI and currently for the Dolphins.

When finding time, which is rarely available, he plays for Empangeni Rugby Football Club and uThungulu.

Daryn joined Lance Klusener at the KZN Cricket Academy in 2013.

Through hard work, discipline and determination he has gotten to where he is today.

Daryn’s bowling averages surpass his batting averages, but with the speed this man brings, one cannot say anything.

His first class average is 27.05 with an economy of 3.59. His best figures are 7/64.

In List A, he averages 22.87 with an economy of 4.46. His best figures are 2/33.

In the Twenty20 format, his best is 4/20 with an economy of 9.11.

The 20-year-old who resides in Durban, is a right handed bowler and batsmen.

Personally, after facing him on the cricket pitch, I can say that when he runs in to bowl, one cannot help but get goose bumps and hope to hit the ball and not go out.

Daryn is currently playing a major role for the Dolphins and when available for RH Construction uThungulu, aids the team in leaps and bounds.
