Prison escapee sentenced

John Bongani Jobe had been on the run for three years.

PRISON escapee John Bongani Jobe (41) who was on the run from police for three years, pleaded guilty in the Richards Bay Magistrate’s Court to a charge of escaping from custody and was sentenced to four years imprisonment.

Jobe, a previous offender, is implicated in high priority crimes in towns across Zululand.

He was one of six suspects who escaped from police custody during a jail break at Richards Bay Police Station holding cells in October 2011.

He had fled across the border.

Police tracked him down in the Sundumbili area last month.
