THE Port of Richards Bay has been officially closed owing to the inclement weather conditions.
Harbour Master Captain Sabelo Mdlalose announced earlier that the port had been closed since 10pm on Thursday.
Adverse weather conditions saw south westerly winds reaching 55 knots and high swells of between five and six metres.
‘Port control and pilots will be monitoring the situation 24/7 and any changes will be communicated. The port is still closed as the weather conditions have not improved yet,’ said Mdlalose.
