60mm of rain recorded in Richards Bay
Heavy rains bring relief for Zululand farmers.
Farmers are pleased with the good rains which fell last night.
Although annual figures are still low, the rains have brought relief to the dry conditions which prevailed throughout the winter, causing many areas to implement water restrictions.
Although the whole area was lashed by heavy winds, no major damage has been reported in the rural areas.
The highest rainfall was recorded in Richards Bay where 60mm was measured, while Melmoth recorded 45mm.
The rain dropped off sharply north of Melmoth with some farmers measuring as little as 12mm.
Farms towards eShowe recorded 35mm, while Gingindlovu was around the same figure.
Heatonville received 32mm.
