THE Biyela family in Bhucanaca Reserve is still grappling to come to terms with the murder of their brother, Mandla Biyela, who was gunned down in eSikhaleni on Friday.
The 40-year-old fashion designer, cameraman and director was killed two days after his birthday at his rental house in eSikhaleni H2 section.
According to the police, Biyela was shot 10 times at close range inside his car and died at the scene.
Witnesses told the police that two gunmen fled the scene in a black Polo vehicle.
His older sister, Slungile Biyela, told the Zululand Observer that the family was still shocked.
‘He was a gentle soul who did not have any enemies. We still can’t believe what happened and why would someone kill him this way.
‘As a Christian family; even though we can accept his death, it is difficult to forget the way he was killed.
‘At the moment we don’t know what to do because he was always the one who made decisions, and came up with solutions on family matters,’ said Slungile.
Biyela was a well-known businessman in Zululand.
He worked as a cameraman and director for the former Bay TV, and was the first movie director and producer from ESikhaleni Township.
Condolences have been pouring in from all over Zululand through various social networks, with friends, colleagues and business associates passing their messages to the family.
eSikhaleni SAPS spokesperson Lt Thembinkosi Mkhumane said the no arrest have been made and the investigation continues.
Zululand will remember Biyela in a memorial service at Tehila Worship Centre in eSikhaleni on today (Thursday).
His funeral will be held at Bhucanana Sports ground this Saturday.

Shame, may his soul rest in peace.
Strongs for the family! Why murder if any problem can be solved as adults or in court? RIP Mandla!
