THE RIDING For Our Lives; Cancer.vive Ride 2014 revved into Richards Bay this weekend, raising awareness about the importance of early cancer detection and prevention.
The week-long campaign sees a group of over 50 cancer survivors, including celebrities, supporters and crew travelling more than 2 300km through Gauteng, KwaZulu-Natal and Free State on motorcycles, taking a message of hope and inspiration to thousands of people.
Richards Bay bikers joined in the convey which arrived at Caltex Garage in Richards Bay on Sunday afternoon and proceeded to Meerensee for the Sundowners Bikers Run hosted in partnership with No Rules Motorcycle Club which included a talk on the warning signs of cancer by local oncologist Professor Amo Jordaan.

Despite the inclement weather, the event was a success with over 80 local bikers joining the cancer awareness campaign.
During their stay, the Cancer.vive team of over 50 cancer survivors, including celebrities, supporters and crew also visited the Richards Bay High School and No Rules Motorcycle Club used the platform to hand over donations of R8 050 to support the organisation; followed by a colourful and energetic celebration of life function, ‘Conquerer’s Tea’, at the Richards Bay Medical Institute on Monday with cancer survivors.
After an exhilarating session of dance, poetry and inspirational messages, survivors shared their personal experiences of cancer diagnosis which will be used to motivate and inspire others walking the same journey, before the team headed off to Durban for the next leg of the campaign.
