Rugby played in slow-mo
The bench was filled with Old Brown Sherry, Brandewyn and Beers.
THE ever-experienced Rugga Rhinos Golden Oldies side took on a slap-together Richards Bay outfit in a non-competitive friendly game at Richards Bay Rugby Club on Saturday afternoon.
The Golden Oldies side packed huge experience with Kobus de Meyer clocking 70, and a bench filled with Old Brown Sherry, Brandewyn and Beers.
The Bay side took to the field looking disorientated with referees trying to play the game, packing their bench with oxygen tanks, asthma pumps and walking sticks.
I would be lying if I said the game was fast and furious.
I was like watching my DSTV HR decoder on pause.
The crowd was kept thoroughly entertained with the Bay ‘lads’ taking a cheeky 10-0 lead into the half time break.
Rikus Minaar and Rynard Visser were the two culprits who crossed the line.
The second half action heated up, when 70-year old Kobus de Meyer crossed the whitewash twice after strolling off with ball in hand.
With the scores level, Andre Nel decided to dot down in the corner to steal the game for the Bay ballies.
The game was filled with long scrums, dead ants and funny line-outs, but on the day everyone had huge fun.
