Thanda need home win

Thanda look for three points

THANDA Royal Zulu FC host newly promoted KZN outfit Royal Eagles at the uMhlathuze Stadium at 3pm on Saturday, knowing that another win will bring them close to the top of the National First Division log table.

Unbeaten in 18 games, Amabhubesi grabbed three points away to bottom club Maluti FET College last time out, but it wasn’t a stroll in the park despite a 2-0 scoreline.

‘They came at us hard. Remember, they are fighting for their survival,’ said Thanda General Manager Thabane Gumede.

‘At times we were under pressure, but we handled it well and created many of our own chances.’

Indeed, Thanda’s rock-solid defence has proved miserly all season, conceding just one goal in four matches.

The emphasis in training has been on attack and getting the strikers into scoring positions.

Hopefully Ace Bhengu and company will find the back of the Eagles’ net a few times to improve their goal difference.

The visitors have won one and lost three of their fixtures, conceding eight goals along the way – an ominous sign should Thanda get into their stride.
