Easy victory for Schools XI
Shawn Booth was the top scorer for Village with 26 runs.
ON an overcast day rain interfered with play in the Schools XI versus Empangeni’s Village league cricket encounter at Grantleigh College on Saturday.
Schools XI won the toss and chose to bat first, posting a competitive total of 232 runs.
As usual Trevor Kietzmann was the top scorer for his side, displaying good technique and aggression for his 77 runs.
Owing to to the rain, overs were reduced from 45 to 40 as Village went in to bat.
Early wickets fell at regular intervals as Village struggled to gain any real partnerships and were bowled all out for 168 runs after 37 overs, giving Schools XI victory by 64 runs.
Shawn Booth was the top scorer for Village with 26 runs. Neill Jordan was the standout player with the ball for School XI with figures of 3-38.
