THE current Zululand heatwave means only one thing – the snakes are on the move.

Mtunzini snake catcher Wayne ‘Beastman’ Rawlinson has been kept busy catching and releasing four different species last weekend.

The first was a call-out by a resident in Mtunzini who had spotted a 1,1-metre male Puff Adder in Seaview Road.

The second call-out was for a female green mamba about 1.6 metres in length, then a vine snake measuring 1.2 metres in Siyaya Road and finally a more testing challenge – a two-metre Forest Cobra in South Road.

All the snakes that Rawlinson caught were released into a safe environment.
