Man burnt to death near Mtubatuba

Five men will appear in the Mtubatuba Magistrate's Court tomorrow on charges of murder.

FIVE people have been arrested near Mtubatuba after a 20-year-old man was assaulted and burnt to death in Nkanini.

The incident happened at about 10pm yesterday.

The deceased was allegedly chased by a group of men in Ezwelisha and was later found burnt to death.

The five suspects, aged between 26 and 47, were arrested soon after Mtubatuba police were alerted and arrived at the scene.

No motive has been established, but a case of murder has been opened and investigations are underway.

The five suspects have been charged with murder and was scheduled to appear at the Mtubatuba Magistrate’s Court tomorrow (Wednesday).

KwaZulu-Natal Police Commissioner, Lieutenant General Mmamonnye Ngobeni, praised Mtubatuba police for their swift response to the incident and arresting the suspects.

  1. There is a high crime rate at Zwenelisha area and I think the cause for this is the police visibility in the area is minus 100%. Even a parkhome or caravan that can accomodate two police officers will do so much good for the area. Cos right now that area is a good hide out for criminals.

    I am very worried as the community member such that I have even moved my kids and they have dropped out of school due to high rate of crime.

  2. This is not the first time this happen. Not long time ago samething happened at Nyamazaneni area but no one was arrested. I think cops must do the right thing not only for this case but for what has been done before about this situation
