GRANTHAM Park Primary School principal George van Wyk and Grade One teacher Teressa Springorum took on the Ice Bucket Challenge in front of the entire school and staff.
Van Wyk challenged all the headmasters and their staff from other local schools, as well as his own staff, who will do the challenge tomorrow (Friday).
He also challenged Acting Principal of Swellendam Nicky Deetlefs and his sons Ettienne and Stephan, as well as his son-in-law.
The challenge raises money for Motor Neuron Disease (MND) or ALS.
Up to today, a total of $20 892 has been raised worldwide.
The purpose of emptying a freezing bucket of ice water on oneself is to feel the same way a MND patient would for a short period of time, to realise how badly the disease affects one.
The rules are simple: 1 Announce you are participating in the Ice Bucket Challenge, 2 You are doing it for MND and 3 Film or photograph yourself and put it on the internet (Facebook and Youtube) to promote via social media.
