Grantleigh Celebrates Founders’ Day

During the assembly, the coveted Loerie Awards were presented to deserving recipients.

GRANTLEIGH College greeted Wednesday morning with high spirits as pupils and guests attended a special assembly marking the annual Founders’ Day celebration.

Founders, Fred and Renette Grant, along with two of their sons, Gareth (guest speaker) and Warren, attended to share in one of the most important and significant events on the school’s calendar.

The assembly began with the official opening and dedication ceremony of the school’s refurbished fountain and water-feature, where the symbolism and design of the feature and its fountains were explained by Executive Headmaster, Shaun McMurtry.

During the assembly, the coveted Loerie Awards were presented to deserving recipients for their dedication and commitment to the school.

The recipients for this year were Dave Taylor, Henk van Niekerk, Lawrence McGrath and Johan Richards.

Fidelitas Awards went to 14 of the pupils for having attended the school from Grade 1 to matric.
