Locals rewarded at nationals
Despite competing for gold and bragging rights, selection for the national side was at stake.
SPEED, agility and quick reaction time is what set the top teams aside from the rest at the 2014 South African Masters National Indoor Cricket Championships held at the Richards Bay Indoor Sports Arena from 3 to 9 August.
Two age groups did battle, namely the Over 30’s and Over 40’s.
Despite competing for gold and bragging rights, selection for the national side was at stake.
In the Over 30 section, a total of 5 071 runs were scored in the games played during the tournament, with 543 wickets being taken.
The Over 40’s managed 3 042 runs with 395 wickets falling.
In the end, cricket was the winner with all sides showing great camaraderie on and off the pitch.

Over 40’s – 1 KZN A, 2 Mpumalanga, 3 Eastern Province
Locals selected for the SA Over 30’s team – Warren Cornelius, Nathan Walklate, Charl Groenewald (non-travelling reserve) and Simon Savides (non-travelling reserve).
Locals selected for the Over 40’s team – Ernest Scholtz (captain), Rajen Govender, Julian Heath, David Augustyn (non-travelling reserve) and Riaan Fourie (non-travelling reserve).
