Special closing down ‘sail’
The event was a colourful and vibrant one, with even the NSRI joining in the party.
THERE was plenty of fun on the water on Sunday as the Zululand Yacht Club celebrated the close of the sailing season.
Tradition has it that the Commodore – in this case, Rod Banwell – takes the salute as boats sail past in reverse to pay their respects.
Local tradition also dictates that the boats return to pay their ‘disrespects’, hurling balloon bombs and spraying foam and water canons over the luckless Commodore or any other vessel that comes into range.
The event was once again a colourful and vibrant one, with even the NSRI joining in the party.
