THERE is a problem with dumping of rubbish – domestic and garden – on the open stands in Pinkie Pool next to the church in Meerensee.

The residents of Pinkie Pool and Perlemoen keep our verges clean and tidy and pay our rates so that places like this can be kept clean. We do not need this eyesore in our area.

The waste management department at the uMhlathuze Municipality is aware of this dumping, and need to fine the people who do so.

These people know who they are because they have been caught ‘red-handed’ and some of them live right next to this open ground, and yet are prepared to live with the filth.

Then there are some garden services, they too know who they are, who have taken to dumping on this ground as well.

It is persons like you who bring down the standards.

The municipality has been given the culprits’ details.

We need the municipality to clear this area of rubbish, erect more signs, and fine the people who are doing this.

We need to know what the municipality is planning to do about cleaning these stands permanently, as they are not part of a green belt. If they are privately owned, then the owners should be made to keep them cleared, and if the land belongs to the municipality then they should keep them cleared.
