FOUR donkeys and four horses were tragically killed following a fire at Dayspring Equestrian Academy in the early hours of this morning.
It is believed the blaze started in one of the stables, spreading to the donkey and pony stables.
The casualties include the famous counting donkey who was featured in the Zululand Observer for his entertaining maths skills.
