Amy the bush pig survives Mtuba fire
This 'little piggy' has recovered from her burns.
AMY the baby bush pig is recovering well at wildlife rehabilitation centre (CROW) after a narrowly escaping the fierce Mtubatuba bush fire last week.
A mere four weeks old, little Amy was fortunate to avoid the full brunt of the fire, but in her frantic hurry to avoid the flames, she became separated from her mother.
In addition to a few minor burns on her hooves and snout, Amy also lost half her tail in the blaze.
Now in the expert hands of CROW’s clinic team, the little piglet will be rehabilitated so she can one day be released back into the wild.
‘Amy was very fortunate not to have sustained life threatening injuries as a result of her ordeal and we are hopeful she will make a full recovery,’ said CROW clinic nurse Sue-Ann Shutte.
