A FORMER University of Zululand (Unizulu) security guard turned maths teacher has recently graduated with a Bachelors Degree in Commerce.
Philangenkosi Nsele from Manzibovu Reserve in Mbazwana always dreamt of studying so that he can better his life.
With Unizulu’s aid, this dream came true as Nsele is now a qualified teacher.
He encourages other people that do not have the opportunity to study, to set goals and see them through.
‘I read many books and one day decided that I did not want to read for fun anymore, so I decided to study for a Bachelor of Education.
‘It was tough at first, but I persevered because I knew where I wanted to be and I felt it deep inside me, therefore I manned up to the challenge,’ said the soft-spoken Nsele.
Nsele, who now teaches maths and science to Grades 10, 11 and 12 at Mavela High School in Jozini, said he thanks Unizulu for having granted him the opportunity to study and especially the Education Department which has been extremely supportive throughout his studies.
