Fatal N2 crash no accident

Investigators were able to interview the driver of the third vehicle who confirmed that he had to take evasive action to prevent the accident.

INVESTIGATORS are looking into the theory that the accident, which claimed the lives of a family of four on the N2 on Friday, may have been caused deliberately by the driver of the car.

Muzwandile Mngomezulu and his wife Siphiwe (39) and two sons, Wandile (10) and Awenza (7) died when the car they were traveling in collided with a truck near Canefields.

It has been reported that the Mngomezulu family had domestic problems which ‘may have affected the balance of the driver’s mind’, said one private investigator.

If this conjecture is correct, it would tally with truck driver David Mashifane’s version of events, as he claimed the car in question was driving on the wrong side of the highway, into oncoming traffic.

‘A passenger vehicle traveling in front of me in the same direction was able to take evasive action, but I was unfortunately not able to stop in time and had nowhere to go.

‘The vehicle was coming straight for my truck. I could not believe what was happening.’

Investigators were able to interview the driver of the third vehicle who confirmed that he had to take evasive action to prevent an accident.

‘Regardless of the cause of the accident, it remains a terrible tragedy, especially when children are involved,’ said Empangeni SAPS spokesperson Captain Mdlalose.

  1. What gives a person the right to take other lives because they are under stress or have messed up their lives? Fair enough if you want to end it all then do so in a place where only you will complete the task but don’t involve innocent children or your wife or husband. Because you messed up why believe that your children do not deserve the chance to develop and make a success of their lives? Throughout my profession I have seen many innocent children and wives or husbands slaughtered. This is the cowards way out. There are plenty agencies around that can assist with a variety of problems people encounter. My sympathy lies with the innocents The person who makes the decision to end it all is a murderer.
