One dead in highway smash

The accident death toll on the N2 near Richards Bay climbs.

IN a second tragic weekend accident, the sole occupant of a bakkie died in a high speed collision with a timber truck on the N2 on Saturday morning.

The accident occurred just north of Nseleni, near Kwambo.

The force of the impact saw the bakkie’s engine ripped from the wreck.

  1. I think that the government must make a different road for trucks to move on

  2. I agree with Devlyn. I travel the N2 daily with a baby on board… It’s scary!

  3. I think time has come for Truck driverS to transports material during daylight only.cause these people don’t have time to sleep how could you drive more than 5 hours without rest.I’m very sorry for lost family, may God be with them.

  4. This particular road is packed with trucks both ways day and nigh, coming back from ST LUCIA Saturday night at 23h00 from our fishing trip we passed about 100 of them to Richards Bay. They overtake each other as if it is a high way with four lanes, no wonder there are so many accidents! !!!!

  5. My condolescenses go out to the MTHEMBU family who’s son ZAC was killed in this accident , so loved amongst his youth and parents also . You will be missed , always will remember your smile your heart and you xxx

You can see body + blood.

Anyway Zak RIP my friends you were such a good loving person much love!!!

  11. I agree , these photos are terrible :( speaking as a friend of zak, I would not like to see these or let’s any other people be exposed to such!! Zak attack will be missed by many xx

  12. I personally do not think it is wrong to print these pics. It serves as a wake-up to drivers to be extra careful and shows the consequences of the selfishness of other road users. There is no body visible in the photo and I believe the ZO has shown good judgment in printing these horror crash photos. May Your Soul Rest in Peace Zak

  13. I do agree with the fact that people whom where close to Zak do not want to see such images, but on the other hand it is relity! I would of prefered them to rather display a image of Zak himself!! He was such an amazing and loyal person..

  14. While I wasn’t as close to Zak as many others were, I knew him as an ambitious free spirited young man. I understand many people will not agree with posting these photos but I do think this will raise awareness to many people who are driving on our terrible roads and hopefully this is an eye opener to the government to fix our roads and make trucks take another route.

  15. I have traveled that road A LOT! And I can attest to the many trucks on the road. BUT, (and this is not meant in a disrespecting way to the deceased), that many people drive WAY above their capabilities! Many people just look at the road right in front of them. I scan the road as far as I can see in front of me, anticipate stupid moves by other road users and drive accordingly. And touch wood, I’ve never even had a near miss! You HAVE to drive and look for the other road users, because you are responsible for your own safety!! I mean, if you look way ahead and see that another truck wants or is busy overtaking another one or there are cars in your lane, you slow down, pull over and let them pass. Not carry on driving thinking they will eventually get out the way! 99% of accidents are avoidable!

  16. Hey kim im not saying you can se the body in Zaks accident im talking about the accident that happened on the 24th of May on the meerensee high way.. where you can see my friend’s mom stuck in the car on the front page of the ZO!!
