A HEALTH crisis was averted last week as a ‘suspension of services’ by KZN Emergency Medical Services (EMS) staff reportedly ended after just two days.
EMS employees in the uMkhanyakude District allegedly booked off sick for two days last week, effectively suspending emergency services.
Desmond Motha, spokesperson for the KZN Department of Health, confirmed these reports on Friday.
‘In the past two days we have been able to improvise by collecting our patients from residential clinics… using our own state vehicles,’ said Mseleni Hospital’s Public Relations Officer (PRO), Thabani Ntuli on Friday afternoon.
‘As the hospital we are happy that labour grievances have been resolved at EMRS today,’ Ntuli concluded.
While the Eyethu Bay Watch was unable to obtain confirmation of a resolution from the provincial Department of Health, EMS employees were reportedly at work on Saturday, with emergency services running normally.
What wrong wing with EMRS?
