A SECURITY guard who raped a woman in 2012, in an incomplete building in Mzingazi, will spend 20 years behind bars for the crime.
The Richards Bay Regional Court convicted and sentenced Sizwe Isava Ntuli (30) of eSikhawini after he was found guilty of robbery and the rape of a 25-year-old victim.
The court heard that on the 12 September 2012, the woman was on her way home from work when Ntuli threatened her with a knife and raped her.
He was arrested on 1 October 2012 and appeared in court several times.
Lieutenant General Commissioner Mmamonnye Ngobeni said the SAPS in KwaZulu-Natal Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences Unit (FCS) has the capacity to effectively investigate sexual-related crimes and such convictions and sentences bear testimony that sexual offenders will be traced, arrested and successfully prosecuted.
